Practitioner of the Month


We hope you are enjoying your summer so far and getting some much deserved rest and relaxation. To help you with that, we have some great summer classes such as our Meditation Monday (which is FREE! ) to give you that renewed sense of calm and balance. Our Essential Oils class on August 6th, will also give some great information on how to optimize your health and well-being. Check out our "Upcoming Events" section to learn more about our classes and events.

This month we are featuring one of our practitioners here at Hanna Wellness, Dr. Julie Reyes. We are thrilled to have her as part of our wellness team and are confident you will feel the same. Her energy and enthusiasm for acupuncture, chiropractic care, and holistic healing is contagious.

Please join us in welcoming our newest addition to the Chiropractic and Acupuncture team, Dr. Julie Reyes,DC, MAOM, LAc. Like Dr. Hanna, she obtained her Doctorate in Chiropractic and Masters in Oriental Medicine at the prestigious Southern California University of Health Sciences.  She combines both Eastern and Western perspectives to provide truly holistic health care, practicing chiropractic, acupuncture, and sports medicine. 

As a family Chiropractor, she promotes total body wellness and vitality. Her Sports Medicine includes injury rehab/prevention and improving athletic performance. Dr. Julie is a very detailed Acupuncturist and Medicinal Herbalist as well as a dedicated Zen meditation practitioner. Using an integrated approach, she helps her patients balance the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual qualities of being and bring all aspects into harmony.   

She is also our resident guru on correct posture and exercises to improve posture and strengthen the core. She  received rave reviews from a class she offered recently on Correct Sleep Posture and Fnding the Right Pillow.  Everyone loved it and many have changed their pillows as a result of her analysis and are already feeling the positive change.  Keep an eye out for that class again soon!    

Product of the Month:

Magnesium Glycinate Chelate

Magnesium is a very helpful nutrient in our body. Some of the benefits of Magnesium include, but are not limited to:

  • Muscle control and relaxation
    • Heart Healthy – helpful with arrhythmia and palpitations and can be used to help with mild high blood pressure.
    • Promotion of Intestinal Movement - Magnesium is also very helpful to gently move a person’s bowels.
    • Reduction of achy and tense muscles
  • Distribution and creation of energy – strengthens insulin doorways on cell walls so we burn sugar molecules more efficiently instead of having them cause inflammation and stored fat.
  • Protein production.
  • Assisting DNA and other enzymes.
  • Increases a sense of calm.
  • Magnesium is essential for calcium to work properly.
  • Reduces headaches and migraines – relaxes the muscles to allow for more blood flow to the brain.

Many aspects of daily life may also be depleting a person’s magnesium levels, this includes: caffeine intake, alcohol intake, stress and exercise, and not eating enough of the right foods. We should be able to get enough magnesium from our diets but many of our foods are now grown in nutrient deplete soil or grown and harvested too fast so that foods no longer have their ancestral nutrient supplies. Food and other products high in magnesium are: pumpkin seeds, almonds, other nuts and seeds, spinach, beans, and Epsom salt baths.

Be sure to use the right form of magnesium! As some forms of magnesium may give you diarrhea and cause dehydration and you may end up in the Doctor’s Office, Urgent Care Center, or Emergency Room! We prefer Magnesium Glycinate Chelate since it is the best form of absorption with very little reports of side effects!
